Summary

As the Trump Administration escalated the trade war with China, China's LNG imports from the US halted, as shown in Figure (1). The Figure shows China’s LNG imports by source. Australia and Qatar are the main LNG exporters to China.

Oil imports from the US dropped significantly. Will China resume LNG and oil imports from the US after President Trump's announcement of an imminent trade deal today? What impact will a trade deal have on LNG and oil prices? Discussion below.
