Chart of the Day: EU’s Dependence on Russian Gas is Increasing

Summary

Figure (1) above shows the EU’s LNG imports by source. Pipeline imports represented 58.5% of total imports while the remaining 41.5% were in the form of LNG. Norway continued to have the lion’s share at 31.6% of total gas imports, followed by Russia at 20.4 % (11% piped and 9.4% LNG), the US at 15.9%, and then Algeria at 15.2% (both piped and LNG).
