Chart of the Day: Europe’s LNG Imports form the US are Declining
Summary
US LNG exports to Europe are declining as Europe’s gas demand is also declining. Figure (1) above shows trends in Europe’s LNG imports from the US since the beginning of 2019. US LNG exporters took advantage of the European reaction to the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the limits that Russia imposed on some European countries and increased exports markedly. But since the beginning of 2024, gas demand in Europe started declining, followed by a decline in LNG imports, which included imports from the US.
