Chart of the Day: Planned New LNG Capacity Additions in 2025
Summary
Figure (1) shows the planned LNG capacity additions in 2025. The total is huge: about 27 mt! The updated list includes the delayed Greater-Tortue Ahmeyim GTA floating LNG project on the Mauritania-Senegal maritime borders, with a capacity of 2.5 mtpa. The project will have a second phase to bring the total project capacity to 5 mtpa.
Major new capacity additions are expected to come from North America, with two new projects in the US (Plaquemines LNG and Corpus Christi Stage 3) and one project in Canada (LNG Canada).
