Figure (1) shows Germany’s total energy supply by source since 2010. Despite the decline of the share of coal, and despite the decline in energy use in recent years because of deindustrialization, and despite the billions of dollars spent on renewable energy, the share of fossil fuels remains virtually flat for the last 14 years.
