Chart of the Day: EU Gas Imports by Source

Summary

The balance between pipeline and LNG imports changed recently as maintenance forced the closure of some LNG plants. It was 50%-50% a couple of months ago. Now it is 55.6%-44.4% as shown in Figure (1) above. 

The Figure shows the division between pipelines and LNG imports in the inner circle. The outer circle shows the details of each. Most pipeline imports come from Norway (29.8% of total imports), followed by Algeria (11.6%) and then Russia (10.3%). The rest come from Azerbaijan and Libya. 

The largest exporter of LNG was the US, followed by Qatar, Algeria, Russia, and others.
