No Recovery in US Jet Fuel Demand
Summary
Figure (2) above shows trends in US jet fuel demand since 2019. It shows that US jet fuel demand has not recovered to pre-COVID levels.
EOA’s Main Takeaway
We posted a chart yesterday showing the number of passengers who traveled by air. This number has been increasing since the end of the COVID lockdowns. This year alone it increased by 6% over last year. Yet, jet fuel demand has not recovered to pre-COVID levels. It is clear now the number of passengers must increase above current seat capacity to increase the number of planes. However, the grounding Boeing 737 MAX passenger airliners may have played a role here.
